Move Scilly is a national lottery funded project based on the Isles of Scilly which aims to help families with at least one school-aged child (Year Reception to Year 11, so aged 4 to 16) to be more active, together. The project runs until 2021.
Move Scilly organise and deliver a range of activities, including weekly (subsidised) family swims, short blocks of sports and outdoor activities, and bigger one-off events, such as lazer tag and climbing wall.
There is also some funding to buy equipment; to bring specialist coaches over from the mainland; to fund transport to activities (boats and taxis), and to support the training of project staff and community volunteers. To find out more about funding of transport to access activities please contact Move Scilly at Susie.firstname.lastname@example.org or . Alternatively you may be able to speak to someone at children services on 01720 424490.
It’s all about getting people (children AND their parents!) more active, in fun and innovative ways. So the activities on offer might include things you haven’t tried before and some you wouldn’t expect—such as roller-skating; bike-riding-come-beach-cleaning; and fun nerf battles. We also use challenges and competitions to help families track their activity levels and support one another to do more.
